Seminars@Hadley Presents: Yahoo! for Web Accessibility
Date: Thursday, February 24, 2011
Time: 1:00 p.m. CST, 19:00 GMT
Is Web accessibility a concern for you or your clients and customers? Are you finding navigating the Web to be an impossible quest?
The Web is an increasingly important resource in many aspects of our daily lives: education, employment, business, shopping, health care, recreation and much more; but navigating its waters and accessing its ports can be a difficult task for disabled Web sailors. On the other hand, when Web sites, Web technologies and Web tools are properly designed, developed and edited, all users can have equal access to information and functionality.
Join Seminars@Hadley as Yahoo! Senior Accessibility Program Manager Victor Tsaran talks about how Yahoo! promotes Web access within its community and across the World Wide Web. Among other things, you'll learn how Yahoo! uses its Accessibility Lab to design, test, and create sites, applications and features that better meet the needs of users with disabilities.
This 60 minute seminar will be moderated by Hadley Outreach Coordinator Billy Brookshire. A question and answer session will be included.
The next meeting of the Hadley Book Chat is March 7 at 1:00 p.m. CST. Join us as we discuss The Help by Kathryn Stockett. This piece of historic fiction provides a fascinating inside look at the maids working in Mississippi in the 1960s. The Help is available at Bookshare and the National Library Service. For further information and log-on instructions, contact Debbie Siegel at siegel@hadley.edu.
